Project Overview

Highadmit Projects were awarded the electrical package to deliver the new HQ for UKHO on its existing site in Taunton. The UKHO produces global hydrographic and geospatial data for the ministry of defence and other mariner organisations, and has been located in Taunton since 1941.

The project created a brand new office development offering a modern and collaborative working environment. The new facility took 25months to build and boasts state of the art technology that will secure its future as a leading global organisation.

The development was built on the existing site, and consists of two, three storey buildings connected by a central glazed atrium. The 850no workforce remained operating within the existing offices, and access was maintained throughout the project. Now complete, the existing offices will be demolished and the land redeveloped.

Highadmit Projects worked collaboratively with the design team to develop the design from RIBA stage 4b, with design being delivered to BIM level 2. The whole team benefited from a fully integrated digital model, which was developed throughout.

The project was delivered in accordance with the soft landings approach. Close collaboration between the client and full project team ensured the principles of soft landings were fully integrated into the project. Aftercare will involve on-site support and assisting users to ensure that occupants understand how to control and best use their building.
